In Japan, about 3,000 students with disabilities have taken entrance exams and 500 passed it and enter universities and colleges every year.
Unfortunately, not all universities and colleges are open their door for students with disabilities. They have been rejected to take entrance exams on the grounds of their mentally and physically disabilities.
Nationwide Support Center for students with Disabilities was established in 1999 to answer their various needs by peer counseling and providing information based on data from original investigation about situations of universities and colleges which accept students with disabilities or not.
