"We support students with disabilities in a new era"
Please image to yourself: students taking entrance exams in braille or
attending lectures with sign language interpreters or a doctor on an electric
wheelchair.
In Japan, about 3,000 students with disabilities take entrance exams and
500 are accepted to universities and colleges, every year.
Unfortunately, not every universities and colleges welcome students with
disabilities. There still remain some that reject applications on ground of
disabilities.
Nationwide Support Center for Students with Disabilities was found in
1999 with the aims to give accurate and necessary information of universities
and colleges based on the result of questionnaires and to answer the needs of
students with disabilities.
